There are many ways to donate to Muscular Dystrophy UK, including online, in the post or via your bank.
How to donate
Donating online is quick and easy to do. Use our online donation form to:
- make a one-off donation or become a regular donor
- pay in money from a collection or a fundraising event
- donate on behalf of a company, group or association
- make a donation in memory of someone or in celebration of a special occasion
Please do not send cash through the post (you can pay cash donations into your bank).
If you have cheques, CAF Vouchers or postal orders, please send them to: Supporter Services, Muscular Dystrophy UK, 32 Ufford Street, London, SE1 8QD. Please include a short cover letter so we know who to thank and explaining if you would like to restrict your donations in any way.
The simplest way to donate is by text message. Just text MDUK YES to 70660 to give £5, and 100% of your donation will be sent to Muscular Dystrophy UK.
Please note that by texting MDUK YES to 70660, you are donating £5 and opting in to SMS updates about this campaign and our charity. To give £5 and opt out from SMS updates, text MDUK NO to 70660.
Terms and conditions
- Texts cost your donation of £5 plus one message at your standard network rate.
- Muscular Dystrophy UK will receive 100% of your donation.
- Make sure you get the billpayer’s permission before sending a text message.
- If you are under 16, you must have your parent or guardian’s permission to send a text donation to Muscular Dystrophy UK.
- You will not be charged for SMS messages from Muscular Dystrophy UK.
- You can unsubscribe from SMS contact at any time by contacting the Supporter Services team. Any SMS you receive from us will also give you the option to unsubscribe.
- In line with our privacy policy, we will not pass your mobile phone number on to any third parties.
If you would like to pay by credit or debit card over the phone, please contact our Supporter Services team on 0300 012 0172 (Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm).
You can pay cash donations into your bank, write a cheque for the same amount payable to ‘Muscular Dystrophy UK’ and send it to: Supporter Services, Muscular Dystrophy UK, 32 Ufford Street, London, SE1 8QD. In some instances, your bank may be able to transfer the donation directly to us without you needing to write a cheque.
Whether sending a cheque directly or instructing your bank to transfer the donation, please write to us so we know who to thank and explaining if you would like to restrict your donations in any way.

Please send your money using any of the methods above. If sending donations by post, please include a short cover letter so we know who to thank and explaining if you would like to restrict your donations in any way.
Alternatively, you can give your donation to your Regional Development Manager. Find out who your local manager is by emailing regionaldevelopment@musculardystrophyuk.org.
If you have used sponsorship forms or completed a donation form, please include these with your donation so we can claim Gift Aid and increase the donations by at least 25%.
Your donations can be ‘restricted’ or ‘unrestricted’. Unrestricted donations allow us to ensure the money raised is channelled to the research or support need we need to prioritise at any given time.
However, you can also request that your money be restricted to a Family Fund, a particular support service, research into a specific condition, or activities in a certain region of the UK.

Claiming Gift Aid can make your gifts worth 25% more – at no extra cost to you.
Gift Aid is an income tax scheme that allows charities to reclaim the tax that you have paid on your donations through UK income tax or capital gains tax.
All individual donations are eligible for the scheme – including regular gifts made through Standing Orders and Direct Debits.
We can claim Gift Aid on donations made in the last four years and on future donations once we receive your Gift Aid declaration.
Gift Aid adds an additional 25% onto eligible donations – so, for example, every eligible £10 becomes £12.50 and every eligible £100 becomes £125.
To allow us to claim Gift Aid on your donations, please complete and submit the Gift Aid declaration form.
