Thousands complete Bidwells Cambridge 10k raising £175k

5 October 2026

Our largest ever Bidwells Cambridge 10k and junior 3k took place on Sunday 4 October. Over 4,500 runners signed up, from elite runners competing for a personal best to schools, colleges, corporate teams and those with a personal reason for taking part.

Record-breaking figures

A record-breaking 4,500 people signed up to the event as the Cambridge community came together to run for the cause. The event is on track to raise £175,000.

The first 10k runner across the finish line was Chris Darling from Cambridge and Coleridge AC who ran the course with a chip time of 31:47. The fastest female was Emma Hodson from Cambridge University Hare and Hound with a chip time of 36:09.

Our official race starter

The race was started by the Johnston sisters – Coady and younger sisters, Frankie and Cerys, who both live with myotonic dystrophy. Coady and Cerys then ran the 10k.

Coady said: “It was an honour to start this year’s event together with my sisters and then join the runners to complete the course, for a cause that’s so important to us.

“We know the impact of living with a muscle wasting condition every day. To see the whole of Cambridge coming together to support Muscular Dystrophy UK was a special moment and one we’ll never forget.”

Congratulations to all our runners

“Thank you to everyone who made our fifteenth Bidwells Cambridge 10k a huge success, from all our dedicated runners, supporters, volunteers and our sponsors, including our title sponsor Bidwells for their continued support.

“Year on year the community of Cambridgeshire stands together to support Muscular Dystrophy UK. The money raised helps to fund research, support those living with a muscle wasting condition and their families and ensures no one faces their journey alone.”

Thanks to our sponsors

Matthew Allen, Senior Executive Director at Bidwells said: “We were proud to be part of this incredible event once again and to support the vital work of Muscular Dystrophy UK.

“This partnership goes beyond traditional sponsorship. Our decision to forge a long-term alliance with Muscular Dystrophy UK stems from our deep admiration for the remarkable work this charity undertakes. We are investing our time, energy, and resources into this partnership, with the goal of making a tangible difference in the vital work they carry out.

“Our commitment to the charity extends beyond the Town and Gown events. Bidwells is proud to be part of the Property Industry Committee, which works closely with Muscular Dystrophy UK to deliver the charity’s flagship Microscope Ball.

“With a rich history in land and property spanning over 185 years, Bidwells has a strong presence in both Oxford and Cambridge. Supporting Muscular Dystrophy UK’s well-established ‘Town and Gown’ 10k runs in these cities allows us to champion the charity and its cause, while also giving back to the local communities that are central to our work.

“Congratulations to everyone who took part on Sunday, and we can’t wait to see you all again next year.”

Alongside our headline partner Bidwells, the event was supported by Actiph, Injury Active, Will Mottdixon and Up & Running.

Making a Difference

Our flagship event originally started in Oxford 45 years ago in memory of Daniel Cleaver. His father, Mike, and other runners set up a fun run. Since 1982 the event has grown and expanded to Cambridge, which is now in its fifteenth year. To this day all profits go to supporting Muscular Dystrophy UK and collectively over £3 million has been raised.
