Over 700 members of the commercial property industry attended the 42nd Microscope Ball on Thursday 24 September, raising over £590k to support people living with muscle wasting conditions.
A festival theme marked the annual gala occasion, which brought together 740 members of the commercial property industry at the London Hilton on Park Lane with one shared goal – to raise money for Muscular Dystrophy UK.
A total of £590,624 was raised – smashing last year’s record-breaking total of £544k – which will help fund life-changing support for adults and children across the UK who are living with a muscle wasting condition.
Once again, the Microscope Ball was hosted by Miss Demeanour and guests were entertained by a variety of incredible acts followed by dinner and a performance from a Robbie Williams tribute artist.
Guests heard from the ball’s committee chair, Michelle Anthony, who explained the impact the event makes, and there was a live auction hosted by auctioneer Jonny Gould, as well as an online auction with over 50 lots to bid on. But the highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the heartfelt speech by our young Ambassador, 12-year-old Carmela Chillery-Watson MBE, who spoke about her experiences living with LMNA congenital muscular dystrophy (L-CMD).
The Microscope Ball is the flagship fundraising event for Muscular Dystrophy UK and has raised over £9 million to date.
